About Scout Canada's Challenge

Forty youth and leaders are bound for Vicente Guerrero, Mexico in July 2011. Our Challenge is to build 3 houses for families with no homes.

Our commitment is to raise $80,000 for building materials, limited furnishings and travel expenses.  We require support from many dedicated people and organizations to attain this goal and are asking for your financial support.  Please consider supporting us in this humanitarian effort.  Tax deductible donations can be made to Scouts Canada Challenge c/o 43 Pekary Place Winnipeg MB  R2K 4H4,

This journey has been planned by the youth who hope to improve the lives of people both in our community and in Mexico.  With no social programs, the people of Vicente Guerrero endure daily hardships just to survive.  This life changing experience will educate us on poverty issues and being part of the solution; strengthen our leadership; and increase our appreciation of being Canadian.  We will create lifelong memories and new friendships and take our carpentry skills to a new level.   As we are the first Scouting group in Canada to undertake a project of this magnitude, we strive to be good role models and establish a program to be used by other Scouting groups.

In addition to our many community Service projects, we are Doing our Best to Be Prepared for The Build a Home Challenge. We are:

    * Volunteering at the Christmas Cheer Board, Winnipeg Harvest, Siloam Mission and many Scouting events
    * Building shelters for Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Winnipeg Humane Society; and assisting Habitat for Humanity
    * Researching poverty issues/solutions
    * Taking Workplace Health and Safety Courses and Spanish lessons
    * Holding garage sales, golf tournaments and dinners
    * Coordinating fundraising events at our schools and churches
    * Donating our weekly dues and holding other Scouting events
    * Selling, hauling and delivering 4,500 bags of water softener salt
    * Selling gift certificates, popcorn, homemade muffins and cookies
    * Recycling popcans and delivering flyers

About Hero Holiday and Absolute Leadership Development

Absolute Leadership Development, founded in 2000, is a federally incorporated charity. From taking hundreds of students to engage in humanitarian relief work to presenting a message of hope to hundreds of thousands, each year Absolute continues to empower a generation to live with purpose - and to change their world.
Vision  To empower emerging generations to change their world by living their lives with purpose.

Strategic Observations
· Youth are the key to affecting social change on a national level.
· The most efficient avenue to reaching an entire generation is the education system.
· The foundational needs in North American youth are purpose and perspective.
· Although we are far from it, it is well within the reach of our society to end world poverty.
Core Objectives
1. To reach every teen with a message of purpose
2. To offer every teen an opportunity to develop a global perspective
3. To provide every teen a listening ear when they need it
4. To mentor young leaders in a changing world
5. To enable education, business and social institutions to work together to address global issues on an intergenerational level
Since 2000, together with our socially progressive donors and participants, Absolute.org has sparked hope for the present and purpose for the future through our innovative and experiential programs. Our financial partners and donors experience the power of exponential philanthropy as they enable us to help bring global change today and invest in lives that they can continue it tomorrow.
